Hi guys, just wondering if it is worth installing an SSD into my laptop. Laptop is only used for general browsing ect...... nothing too heavy.

Thinking of grabbing another ocz vertex 2e (Guessing will fit in laptop?).

Laptop is Acer5742, i3, 4gb ram ect.

Worth it! Laptop drives can be slow especially if 5400rpm. SSD will boost it nicely. All of my laptops apart from the IDE ones have been fitted with SSDs now :D

thanks m8 .... will get one ordered.

Just checked and currently has a hitachi 5400rpm drive installed so guess will make a big difference ::cool:

not only performance that will increase, battery life as there are not moving parts, whereas on mechanical drive a motor is consntantly going around sapping the battery.

True, one of my laptops would not show a movie over about 1 1/2 hours on average as the battery is getting a little old, with the SSD i get about 14mins avg more and can finish a movie with some battery left. Tested this with the same image on both SSD and HDD to make sure i wasn't imagining it :p

I'm planning to fit a SSD to my laptop sometime later this year. It has space for two drives so I can fit the SSD as a boot drive and still have 500gb storage :)
