Hi,

Just done my 1st build and have purchased a 2nd ssd (2TB P44 Pro Series M2). My motherboard (Asus rog strix b650e-f) comes with heatsinks reinstalled with a thermal pad fitted.

My question is probably a stupid one.... The ssd has a slip of paper stuck over the top of the ssd chips.... Does this get peeled off before putting the heatsink on so that the thermal pad/paste sticks directly to the chips of does it stay in place so that the thermal pad sticks to it.

when you say "piece of paper"...do you mean the sticky label with the branding etc?
if so, then leave it alone. this sticky label is metallic and will not interfere with the heat transmission to the heatsink
just remember to remove the plastic protector on the thermal pad attached to the heatsink
