So my mum has a laptop that she mostly uses for work and web browsing. She has been complaining of slow boot up times and general sluggishnes.
I think she would benifit from a SSD.
But I'm a bit unsure because the laptop in question is at least 2 years old so will prob only have sata ii. And I'm not sure there is a option for AHCI in the bios.
Is it worth buying the 128 gb M4 with a fresh install and using the hdd already fitted as a external hard drive.

My laptop is a 6 year old Toshiba Satellite pro, SATA II, No ACHI..... and it has an Intel X-25M, had it in 2 years now.... best upgrade for it ever.

I would check how much space she currently uses first and the amount of memory it has, 128GB is going to be a massive waste of money if she only uses 5-10GB currently.

I did suggest 60gb and using the current hard drive as an external for any data. But she is worried about leaving it at home when she's at work and needing something off it.
The 128 gb won't be a waste size wise. So long as with the sata and AHCI there will be an improvement in speed.
Especially when opening office and stuff
