So i randomly started getting BSOD today with error messages like about a storage exception. So i loaded up crystal disk info, and it said the disk wss 74% but "good".

I however persisted on getting crashes and BSOD. I could not complete SFC /scannow checks without it bailing at 51%, no matter what tricks I tried about removing files, adjusting settings etc. DISM command would not complete successfully either.

Drive is over 6 years old so i got good time from it. I just found it odd that smart was showing OK. Anyone else experienced this?

In the end I had to make a full fresh install to a newer SSD.

I haven't tried secure erase on it yet. It is at least 6 to 7 years old and only a 120 so not that worried about it. Was just surprised that chkdsk says no issues, smart data says nothing bad etc.

Was the best upgrade i've done on any system. Hides the ridiculous slowness and delays in windows 10.

OCZ Vertex with SATA II

Did you even check the individual smart values? Or you just looked at the overall health status?
Firmware fully updated?

Yes. I went through the values in smart yesterday. I saw nothing sinister. No idea on firmware, i havent updated that in a long time.

I will play around with it now I have my PC stable again on a new drive and follow up. I have some TKD/Hapkido instructional videos I need to edit before I play around more though.

Will post up smart values later today if i get a chance. Just for curiousity sake, and that I might learn something

As a last resort... I had similar issues a couple of times with our old crucial m4 drive yet sorted very easily.

Our drive if connected to power but NOT data would do an internal check, error correction and tidy up !. Just discnnect data, switch on, leave your PC on the bios screen ('no boot device found' or whatever) for a couple of hours, switch off, connect data cable then try again.
