Evening all,

Have a crucial M550 mSata SSD.
When i connect it via USB to my pc, a window pops up saying i need to format it before use, when i format it, and error pops up - Windows was unable to complete the format.

In Comp Management, it shows as Unallocated, if i right click it, i can only select properties
In Device manager-properties, it shows as working fine, under the volumes tab it shows as Type: Unknown, Status: Not Initialised, Partition Style: N/A.

Any suggestions? will be connecting it direct to Mobo later when i get time

Thanks!

try leaving it unplugged without power for an hour or two then try

don't know much about msata cards but it could have entered freeze state

If it shows up in windows, then it isn't dead?

Have you tried formatting it on another PC or another OS?

hhhmmm, connecting via USB gives me a cyclic redundancy error.
Connecting direct to mobo gives me a perfectly working SSD.

So, its the bin for the mSata to Sata adapter then :D
