Hi all,

I recently swapped over to a Gigabyte Z87X-OC board with a 4670k. I had some initial install issues with Windows as it wouldn't allow me to run in legacy mode, and seemed to force EFI. No problem, reformatted SSD to GPT and Windows installed more or less trouble free. The only issue came when I rebooted for the first time where the BIOS reports no bootable device found, and takes me to settings. It will not detect the SSD at all under peripherals or boot devices. I hit save and exit...voila, Windows starts, absolutely stable and no problems whatsoever. Until I reboot and it starts over again, every time. Sometimes it will load Windows, and just as it's about to go to the Welcome screen, it BSODs for a split second, reboots and over we go again. If anyone can offer any suggestions, that would be great. I'm forcing the board to run in UEFI mode, and that's about the only setting I have that I can think will make a difference. Fast boot or normal boot makes no odds.

The drive is an OCZ Vertex 2 120GB. Had no problem whatsover with the drive on previous Crosshair 3 mobo for as long as I had it.

Sounds like a Sandforce controller issue that has been reported on a range of Z87 boards.

Basically older SSD + Z87 = :(

I had a few problems with my Vertex 2. Not the same as your having though. Have you checked the firmware is upto date on the SSD?
