I bought a 64Gb M4 from the MM about a month ago but I'd been rather lazy in getting round to installing it (damn you Skyrim!) but at the weekend I finally pulled my finger out and set about going to do it. Now this is my first SSD but I already knew ahead of time that the thing was small so I got myself an OCZ 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor, one of these jobbies:

Now if you're not familiar with the P182, it has 2 hard drive cages but I can only use the bottom one due to a fan and PCI-E cables getting in the way of the top one. Not a problem anyway I thought as I had ample space in the bottom one but imagine my suprise when I tried to install the bracket!

As you can see the thing is nowhere near long enough and even if it was, the bottom hole isn't in the right place for you to be able to screw it in. In retrospect yes I should've looked at the cage before I bought the adapter but it seems short sighted of OCZ to not make the bracket longer in the first place and either add or move the last set of holes to accomodate this kind of mounting system. It didn't matter in the end anyway as I found a solution :D

It seems secure enough and it's definitely better than the alternatives I found by doing a bit of Googling i.e. double side sticky tape or leaving the thing loose in your case!

All adaptors are like that but the only alternative I could think of that could potentially work well would be akasa unit as its a little larger.

I had this problem in my P180. In the end I used a 5.25" adapter on the 3.5" adapter :)

And it was an amazingly old 5.25" adapter, massive, bulky thing that looked from the 1980s that my dad had in the loft.

I had the same problem in my fractal arc, but luckily the ssd screwed directly onto the hdd caddy, think there a different design to antecs though.

Although tbh if it wouldnt fit id just double sided tape it to the back of the mobo tray.

I have an OCZ Vertex Bigfoot so didn't need an adapter but sticky back velcro works well and is more secure than double sided tape.

I used "Scythe Twin Mounter 2.5 Rev.C, 2.5 to 3.5inch Adapter", works perfectly. I did a bit a reasearch first and found out the OCZ one and others don't fit ;)

You can install two drives in this converter :)

thanks for posting this. I've also got a P183 case and was looking at getting my first SSD drive with OCZ's drive adaptor.

Luckily I work in the IT dept and will be trawling through our spares box.
