I currently have a 200GB 7200 drive in my laptop and I attach a 5200 rpm drive via ESATA which is powered by a USB cable. My laptop is my develpment machine when I am away from my desk and so generally I don't need loads of disk space ... I need enough for a 30 GB VM and the OS and I currently need to use 2 drives as running the VM(s) on the same drive as the OS is just painful right now.
So, I am wondering if an SSD can be powered by a USB cable for use with my laptop as the drive for my active VMs (I will copy them to the SSD for use). A 32 GB SSD drive will do me for now and would go in my Icy Box 2.5" drive caddey.
