I have a windows xp laptop , core 2 duo ,2gb ram etc etc .

i use this for alberton live and traktor scratch pro which both work so much better on windows xp

would a ssd work as it should on xp . upgrading to windows vista / 7 isnt an option .

i have been told that a ssd would be a waste on xp as it doesnt support all the features a ssd drive needs .

not shure if thats correct or not . thought i would ask here

The Intel drives, either gen 1 or gen 2, will work just fine on XP (as have my gen 1's for over a year, now).

*YOU* must format the drive correctly, so alignment is correct. That should help lifespan enough to make it worth the trouble. Make sure you turn AHCI on. (You'll need to google for the instructions.)

With gen 1 drives, you can't use automatic NOR manual trim from the Intel toolbox. The drives don't support it. The gen 1 drives have optimized firmware so in real life this isn't an issue. You can always use the 'wipe' option in the newest Intel toolbox to bring a gen 1 back to 'as-new' performance.
