I've been pondering getting an SSD for a while and the wife is looking to spend more than usual (we only just got our house for my birthday so money was tight) despite my protestations. I've just plonked a Vertex2E 120gb bigfoot on my my wishlist. Is anyone else hoping that they'll be reinstalling come boxing day ? (or xmas day if you're feeling antisocial!)

i'm happy with my 2 250gb wd raid editions in raid 0 so will be holding off on a ssd for my main rig for a while.

have the 40gb intel one in my htpc though and they are great :)

you got a house for your birthday ?

We moved in on the 16th of March and my birthday was April 13th so we had literally no money to spare. We went a bit OTT with the work on the house so were paying the CC off for the first 2 months.

i have the bigfoot on my list.

getting it before xmas though, due to returns policies etc.

she wants some dopey hifi thing for the kitchen lol

edit: and don't be so selfish, for my birthday i got 300 litres of kerosene lol

i think im gunna stick a new GPU on my list, i just bought a SSD and the only real difference i can tell is start up/shut down speeds and loading times. not quite as good as i would have liked. i think for the price per Gb they're just not worth it.

I wont be, I reinstalled last month :D

I've never had hardware on my Christmas list, I've always bought as when needed to. A SSD is a good choice though, it's been the best upgrade i've done in a long time :)

What does one do with 300litres of kerosene? - i wouldnt mind two 60GB Vertex 2s - that would be awesome!

Wow that's one of the first negative things i've read about SSD's apart from the cost. Most people seem to think it's the best upgrade you can do.

Personally i have the bigfoot on my list :)

I always tend to buy stuff that pricey for myself

Nah will be waiting until the next gen drives come out and will be getting a new mobo at same time :)
