thinking about buying a new HDD or SSD , not quite sure on which I want.
so far all I know is HDD' are cheaper in terms of space but run slower and SSD' are a lot faster but cost more for space.
what would be the best thing to do? what I have now is a 250GB SSD, would it be worth buying another SSD or, buying a HDD and configuring them to run programs from the SSD but store everything on the HDD ?

all help welcome (Y)

Depends on what you keep on your computer bud. If you store a lot of movies music etc, then youll need a big HDD cause its too expensive to get a SSD for storing large amounts, but if you just use the PC for gaming like my self, you might find it more beneficial to get another SSD, maybe a slightly larger one than you already have and use that one to keep all your games on.

Your 250g one is already pretty big, so you might find you can fit all your games on already, if so then maybe just get a few TB HDD for storage.

It really depends on your needs, a hard drive is fine for most uses although having used an ssd for my os and programs I wouldn't want to go back lol.

In my case I've got an ssd (120GB) for my programs and windows, then use hard drives for 'storage' of media, files etc.

I have toyed with grabbing another ssd for a scratch disk though.

all I do is use it for gaming, so I guess all I really need is another SSD , got 87.5GB left and it might be full soon, so just planning ahead lol
don't think ill be running them in raid zero though, shortens the life span and if I crash I will lose data or game saves :(
thanks for the reps

I would get yourself a large HDD. Put all of your media and files onto the HDD, as well as the less commonly played games. This will free up a bit of your 250GB SSD for the games you play most, as well as your operating system and programs you use most (web browser, Microsoft Office) and so forth.

I use a large hdd 2tb for storage/games aswell,and its a 5600rpm drive,no issue's tbh,loading times are fine

just depends on what your willing to spend, ssd=more money or cheaper/larger space hdd

Just been looking at SSHD' what are the views on those in terms of speed compared to a normal SSD?

They aren't particularly good. They generally have something like an 8GB fast "partition" (if it can be called this) which will "store" the more used applications and programs. The rest is just like a normal HDD, slightly faster but not much. Unless you can get one for the same price as a normal HDD, there's no point in getting one. SSD is much faster.

I wouldnt buy an expensive one though m8, dont go for the samsung pro or anything just go for the slower cheaper SSD.

If there is anything you want to run as fast as possible, then just drag it to your main drive, only takes a few seconds dragging a large game between 2 ssd drives.
