Hey guys got a C300 SSD a little over 3 weeks ago.

i know this is probably nothing but when i first got the SSD my windows WEI was 7.9 for the disk drive...

nearly a month later and its dropped to 7.8 for the disk drive.

Any ideas whats going on guys?

My Vertex 2E has dropped from 7.5 to 7.3, although I don't fully understand the principle to why it drops, I think it's just everyday usage. Don't worry the drive is not permanently that slow. With a secure erase and a fresh install from my understanding it will go back o 7.9

Hope this helps?

Someone might have to correct me here, but I believe the secure erase then re-image is only for sandforce controlled SSD's, as is the advice to not benchmark your drives, which is said to kill sandforce SSD performance (the only way to restor is secure erase and re-image)

Corsair also reccomend logging off your computer for an hour or two will help kick garbage collection in. I don't know anyone who 'logs off' on their home computers, so if you don't do it on a regular basis try it and see. Shutting down or restarting does not have the same effect. Again this may be limited to sandforce based SSD's (your C300 is not)

From what I understand Micron hasn't implemented garbage collection, but I haven't exactly been keeping 'up to date'.
Currently from what I understand, Indilinx is still the best in this regard, and runs when the drive is idle.
Also Trim doesn't restore 100% performance, not sure if Micron has implemented it yet though.
Apparently the new sandforce drives due to come out soon (vertex 3 etc), and they also use a form of 'Garbage Collection'/Trim to avoid slowdowns.

No need to worry it's not a huge issue unless sequential write speed is really important to you. Even when the drive is really fragmented, it's still much faster than any mechanical drive.
