I know it's not a very good benchmark but as I've just installed an SSD (Intel 510). The WEI that was 5.9 for twin striped Raptors on SATA 3 to 6.9 for a single SSD on SATA 2 and 7.8 moving it to one of the Sata 3 ports vacated by the Raptors.

These are also PCI-e 2 SATA 3 ports that are not that quick overall.

What's the point of this thread? No offence, just asking.

My Crucial C300 128GB scored 7.7 on SATA II. Windows Experience Index is a meaningless benchmark.

To show the many people who ask if there really is a performance improvement in an SSD and between SATA 2 and 3.

WEI is not completely meaningless in the same environment.

It wasn't meant for people like you who know everything, it was meant as a guide for the less informed to ease some concerns.

Andy,

you need a ssd to get over 5.9 on the WEI for the different ones I have had a play with they range from 7.3 +

To show what rubbish it really is tho my c300 256gb which is not as good as the new intel you have will score 7.9 on sata 2 or sata 3 go figure:confused:

Try AS SSD or or somthing that Itel drive of yours should bench very well:p

Cheers but it does get over 5.9 that was the dual raptors.

I wasn't trying to bench the SSD just show relative performance between HDD and SSD on SATA 2 and SATA 3. Accepting of course an HDD is limited to 5.9.
