Has anyone had any experience of using Solid state drives as a photoshop scratch disk. PSD files are compressible so should be able to use the higher write speeds of OCZ Vertex 2 /3 drive.
I wouldn't use an SSD as any form of temporary storage, due to the increased number of writes you're likely to be incurring with these kinds of operations.

This used to be a problem, but modern SSDs are equipped to handle usage patterns that involve large numbers of writes. In fact most SSD manufactures list usable lifetimes that exceed their mechanical counterparts, even under unrealisticaly heavy usage conditions.
Realistically, by the time your SSD wears out, it will be way outdated anyway, plus because of the way SSDs work, your data will still be intact. Furthermore, since the OP is using it for 'temporary' storage, it's no loss to him/her eitherway.
