How much have SSD's come down in price recently?

Only been looking at them for about 2 months. Should I buy a 128GB now for around £100 or wait a little bit as 256GB might be that price shortly?

I think they came down a lot but have then stayed fairly steady, with some holding their value well, and others rising slightly, I would say now is a pretty good time to buy, lots of choice too, you dont really have to spend much more for 256GB, but that depends on your requirements also..

I'd want sata 3 and 6GB/S. When I said £100, I was talking about the £80-£90 range.

I know Intel, Samsung, etc are the best quality.

The Crucial M4 is a great drive too.

As for your original question. Probably best to buy a 128GB drive now. You can put everything else on a HDD and your 128Gb SSD will never get full with just the OS and app's. Hence not much point in having a 256Gb SSD. Just my opinion of course.

Thats exactly what I've done. :)

M4 is a solid drive and what i use but seems to have been surpassed in speed and equaled in reliability lately. Can't go wrong with it mind you and i doubt anyone would notice the speed difference between it and other drives unless benchmarking.

prices went down a lot. at best, the 830 was ~£115 for 256gb and the m4 was actually £100 for 256gb. they've gone back up now to regular prices. but there's an influx of new models and technologies. for example crucial is coming out with the m4's successor, the m500, and samsung is coming out with the 840 and 840 pro. prices are expected to fall another third within the next year.

but i actually think if you want an ssd, you might as well get a 128gb or 256gb now, and potentially upgrade again in a few years. just avoid tlc and asynchronous flash and buy a reasonably priced drive.
