Had a quick look around but couldnt find anything definitive
Been looking about getting another SSD (240GB) to join my current 128gb so I can run them together in RAID mode, but question is can I run 2 different models together?
I have a 128gb M4 atm, but may get 1 of the new OCZ 240gb or a Kingston SSDNow V+200 240GB (similar in price)
Question is If I do, will I lose and performance/startup times etc, and will it be any benifit? Want to get 1 of these 2 drives as they seem better priced than getting another m4 in 256gb format
Cheers

Eeemm, you can't RAID a pair of drives with different sizes..

Best choices: getting another 128GB drive and then RAID them (my advice: be the same maker/model) or still getting one of those 240GB drives and put it as a secondary drive..

Best regards.. :)

Eeemm, you can ;)

OP, if you run then as a striped RAID 0 then you'll only end up with 256GB (2 x 128GB).

You'll "lose" 112GB from the 240GB drive.

It may be different if you span the disks (if supported) as this adds the disks together treating the second disk as an extension of the first.

Using 2 completely different disks though may not be a good idea.

You're right, Surveyor.. My mistake.. :(

Never done that before, and always thought that it couldn't be done due to capacities.. And yes, seems to be ended up losting the available space on the higher drive..

Everyday is a learning day. Thanx for that.. Rewriting the knowledge files in my brain/section HDDs/SSDs.. ;)

Best regards.. :)

Just a heads up. I asked for help speccing a PC not long ago and somebody told me to avoid OCZ SSD's. Apparently they aren't so reliable. I'd verify that but still.
