I just finished a windows 7 x64 install on my system, the install took 40 minutes and was installed on my ssd.

Seemed a little long to me considering windows installs on my samsung f3 in less time.
Ive updated windows and installed all the system drivers and done the windows experience index score test, my system scores 5.9 on the hard disk?

Am i being paranoid or is something wrong?

i7 930, asus p6x58d-e, 6gb ocz gold, patriot 64gb ps100 + Samsung f3 500gb, ati 5850.

Sorry should have mentioned the specification.

Actually I thought some of your numbers there looked a bit low so I just tried the test on my older gen SSD.

As you can see my drive is much slower than yours for sequential reads and writes, but beats yours on some of the other tests by a significant percentage. Perhaps your drive isn't working optimally for some reason.

I know their cheap but surely they shouldnt be slower than a mechanical drive?

My friend has a patriot ps100 64gb same as mine, i just called him and asked how his was during windows install.
He said that windows installation took him 15 minutes and that his scores 6.8 in the windows experience rating. He bought his at the same time as mine but its only this weekend ive managed to have time to install windows and so on.

Maybe its a setting or possibly a faulty drive, it seems a little slow and sluggish opening programs to install. Also unzipping files is extremely slow, just took me 5 minutes to unzip a 340mb file.

In some ways they are slower, sometimes a LOT slower unfortunately, it's a limitation of the technology.

On the upside, reads are super quick due to the almost nil access time. So you can turn things like search indexing and superfetch off on Vista/W7 because they are rendered redundant by SSD.

His drive seems much, much slower than it should be. There's no way it should take 5 mins to unzip a 340MB file.

im tempted to rma but ocuk might say that theres nothing wrong with it.

I just ran the windows experience rating again and it took 15 minutes to run, it seemed to jam up on the hard disk assessment. Still 5.9 rating...

Could i run an application like hdd tune and check for errors?

Installed latest firmware 3.005 and installed windows 7 which went much faster this time. Drive seems fine now, amazing what firmware can do.

Thanks everyone for advice.

Have you re-run the cristaldiskmark? Whatd you get?

Thought Id run it on mine for comparison, I really need to update my firmware though so I can run TRIM
