I recently did a read and write test for my 1tb hard drive and my 128Gb SSD, and the results are extremely odd...

My 1TB Hard Drive had a write speed of 161MBps

while my 128GB SSD only had a write speed of 153MBps...

I changed around the SATA 3 cables they were using to see if that made a difference and it did slighty, the HDD went down to around 156 and the SSD went up slightly to around 171.

Anyone know why my hard drive is almost matching write performance of my SSD?

Mobo - M5A99FX PRO R2.0
SSD - SanDisk 128GB
HDD - 1TB WD Blue

AHCI did not used to be on Nvidia chipset Mobos I had till later on but its been on Intel Chipset for a long time so I assume same can be on AMD Chipset Mobos (I have never had one TBH).

Look at the Storage/SATA section of your Bios and see if its set to EIDI(IDE) or AHCI Mode for the Controller/Ports.

They are set to AHCI and i just did a windows experience rating to test it again, and my rating for the data transfer dropped from 7.4 to 5.5 only thing i've done is put in an old SATA 2 hard drive, but i took it out like 2 week ago... was only in for about 30mins

There were Registry Entries in XP where as the High and Low filters for storage controllers could drop 1 notch each time errors were found meaning speeds fell in the UDMA modes I am not sure if its still in the newer OS.

Very hard to tell from here TBH.

Run ATTO32 and see what you get.

EDIT: Do you know if Trim is working? for sure 100%?
