SSD Speeds on ASUS P5N-E SLI

I am currently upgrading my son`s PC - I have achieved some reasonable performance increases at a falrly low cost so am fairly pleased.

I have connected a Crucial M500 SSD to one of the SATA2 ports on the MOBO. It is much quicker now than with his old WD HDD.
Samsung Magician is giving read/write speeds of 270/218 - a nice improvement.
Question: could I get more performance by buying a PCI-E to SATA3 card and connecting the SSD to that?

I `m not sure what `version` of PCI-E the ASUS mobo has. It has 2 x PCI-E x16 slots and 1 x PCI-E x1 slot. I don`t mind the graphics card (GTX 770) being knocked back to x8, but will I see SATA3 speeds if the SSD is connected to the 2nd PCI-E x16 slot?
I think I have seen x2 adaptor cards for sale on the interweb. Should I buy one?
Thanks guys.

Apart from benchmarks and large ssd to ssd file transfers you won't notice a difference between sata 2 and 3.

Stick to the native motherboard chipset as it'll probably be faster for small files than a 3rd party controller.
