Afternoon all

I've got just enough cash to buy a new SSD and an old one I'd like to stick in my laptop.

I currently have a Sammy 830 128gb SSD, about 3 years old, used as the system drive for my gaming pc.

I also have an ultrabook, Asus UX32a that uses a slow 500gb hard drive that I'd like to have an SSD.

Would I run into problems doing the following:

1) Using whatever software the new drive comes with to clone the 830 to it
2) Taking the now old 830 and cloning the laptop hdd to it
3) Replacing the laptop hdd with the 830

and on that - which ~250gb SSD should I buy?

Thanks

yh the evo suffers from degradation atm,it loses read speeds over time

the crucial also uses better multi level cell nand

buy the crucial mx100 256gb ssd

Have one & its a really fast drive at a good price point.

1 x Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/EU) £106.99
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £86.99

3) Replacing the laptop hdd with the 830
I see you running into problems here cos as you say, the laptop currently has a 500GB HD. How full is it?

As with most hard drives, there's about 5gb of actual docs, 5gb of random pics I have backed up elsewhere and 300gb of movies :P

What kind of lifespan can I expect from the Samsung 830 - and does Macrium allow me to format it when I hook it up to the laptop to clone the 500gb drive?

Thanks for all the responses so far guys, I know i can reliably get advice from this forum :)
