Im thinking of upgrading my pc, I'm considering upgrading my ssd, mostly due to warranty and storage.

I use 50 - 70% of the drive most due to installing all large software and games on my hdd

I have a corsair GT
Unformatted Capacity 120 GB
Read Performance (max) 555 MB/s
Write Performance (max) 515 MB/s

Ive seen the samsung evo which offers a similar spec
the above 2 are around the £150 mark for a 240gb

or a cheap drive
I have seen some offers online for the crucial 240gb hdd which is about £85

Would i notice the difference in speed or would i only be usable on benchmarks

Is it worth me upgrading the ssd I know theres only a few months remaining on the warranty warranty, but the drive is a RMA upgrade about 6 months old so should hopefully last a year or so

I hope I was clear on what im thinking :D

I doubt you'd notice the difference

I went from a single Samsung evo to a RAID 0 pair, couldn't tell the difference myself (bi difference was shown on a benchmark though)

your current gt would be quicker than the crucial, the Samsung would be better option

keep the gt for other games/data ect and put os on the new ssd?

id only upgrade if your tight on ssd space

Im not tight on space yet, Ive installed a fresh os a few weeks ago, but its only a 120gb, like I said I keep all the games and large software on the hdd.

I was just wondering if it would be worth upgrading or would a I bee better off just saving the money till the SSD is tight on space or starts failing.

I have a 60gb gt and its running fine, had it year n half so far, currently using it to cache with

id stay as you are for now,no realworld speed diff from that and my Samsung evo/pro

the gt's tend to be one of the more reliable ssd out of the corsair range

Well i had a force 3 before the RMA, If the GT is as reliable as you say it should hopefully last a year or 2.

I I can upgrade when i need to then, I was only worried because the force 3 was not very good it stopped working all of a sudden.

Would i see any difference running games and software off the ssd compared to running them off the HDD as i am now?

it was this one Toshiba HDTS251EZSTA

and it was actually 162

also I wouldn't care too much about sequential speeds, if at all.

Ok thanks, I dont have the budget yet but I will keep it in mind.
whats the warranty on the Toshiba and what is toshiba like on RMA?

Corsair was very good

some games benefit from being on an ssd, faster maps loading ect, wont hurt to have one or two most played games on there

and yh the gt last better, they have better synchronous nand in them aswell

its upto you,if your managing fine atm id stay as you are,if you want more ssd space then go bigger by all means

for performance gains you wont notice from current ssd

Would i notice any speed improvements if i run the following software on ssd
photoshop-paint shop
office
video editor
roxio-nero
video - audio converter

I guess ill upgrade once this one gets full or I have spare cash.
Any choices ?
should I go for something like the gt or evo or should I gp for a better value item like the crucial or toshiba
