i was thinking of upgrading my WD Raptor to a Cosair M4, but everytime i see the word Marvell controller + SSD i just see bad benchmarks & people saying buying a new board

what do you think of going to SSD on a Marvell Controller?
here is my spec.
My Current Specfication is
i7 940 @ 2.93ghz
6GB Gskill
ASUS P6T Dexule OC Palm Edition
570GTX
ASUS DX 7.1
1000w Cosair
WD 300GB Raptor
640GB Caviar WD
1TB Samsung F3

Bad benchmarks compared to an Intel SATA 3 connection, it will still **** all over your Raptor.

Exactly. The Marvel controller is still faster than a SATA 2 controller, it's just you probably won't be able to get the advertised read/write speeds of the M4.

In real life situations I doubt you could tell the difference between the intel and marvel controllers anyway.

Hmm you're the second person this week to think you have a Marvell SATA controller when you don't. All 6 of your SATA ports are Intel ICH10R, the best SATA 3 Gbps controller you can get. You do have a Marvell controller but only for the eSATA port and PATA port. You don't have SATA 6 Gbps of course but an SSD would still perform brilliantly compared to HDDs with this controller.

All of this information can be found on the Asus website.
