I've just had my dead Crucial M225 128Gb replaced with an M4 128Gb under RMA. The SSD was in my desktop gaming machine which was on 24/7 because it also acted as the server for my Soundbridge and the other half's Ebay sniping software. I have recently been trying to sort out my linux based (Mythbuntu) mediacentre which is also on 24/7 to carry out those tasks so that I only have one machine on 24/7.

I also have a Dell XPS15 laptop which probably gets more use than the desktop but mostly only web browsing and ssh/vnc for remoting into the media centre. I'm considering a number of options and would value the OcUk collective opinion...

Option 1 - Put everything back as it was and stop tinkering - SSD & Data drive in Gaming PC with Windows 7 and apps on the SSD and Steam on data drive because the Steam folder is too big

Option 2 - Only tinker a little - SSD & Data drive in Gaming PC with Windows 7, apps, and Steam on the SSD and only install a couple of games at a time

Option 3 - Lots of tinkering - Put the SSD in the laptop and put the laptop HDD (5400rpm) as the data drive in the Gaming machine and use the existing data drive (7200rpm) as the OS drive.

I'm leaning towards Option 2 at the moment because I use LibreOffice and Photoshop Elements on the desktop and having Steam on the SSD would boost game loading times but Option 3 might be more sensible as the laptop is used more frequently.

What do you think?
