Hi,

Now I'll be using my SSD as my main operating system and apps drive, and the Velociraptor for games, the question I have is can I have them connected to the PC at the same time, or do they have to be the same type of drive to have in a RAID configuration?

If I can have them running in a RAID or otherwise way at the same time while connected, can I use an e-sata cable? From what I've read it wpuld seem to suggest that this can be done ok. I don't seem to have anymore of those red SATA cable connectors.

Thanks. :)

there's no problem having both connected to your system at the same time. You'll get two drives in windows, and will need to remember to install games on the Velociraptor.

You could run a RAID configuration, but I'd seriously recommend you don't. The array size will be limited by the SSD and the array speed will be limited by the Velociraptor.

The E-SATA connection is for external drives. I assume you want both drives plugged in internally? In which case you need to use normal SATA cables to connect to your internal SATA connections.

The cheapest you can get away with. Is this for your new SSD? If so, you'll want a SATA III cable (Assuming you got a SATA III SSD :) ).

My SSD is currently in operation but I wish to add the Velociraptor so I am then fully up and running. (Then eventually, add an external drive and then start backing up data like some people do on a regular, daily basis even.)

The drive I bought was the low end of SSD's. It is an OCZ Agility 120gb, still very quick though. This and the Velociraptor are easily fast enough for me atm, though I do sometimes wonder about those top of the line Intels. :)

Therefore I will need a SATA II cable.

Thanks for your time. :)

Edit : for a split second I thought I found a spare, but unfortunately it's just a SATA I black cable, without the little 'L' shape at one of the two ends.
