SSD Windows 7 issues

I'm at my wits end trying to install Windows 7 on my new rig. I've been able to install it onto a regular HDD, but I recently purchased a 60Gb SSD with the plan of installing the OS onto it and reaping the benefits.

Annoyingly, when I boot off the DVD, the installer recognises the SSD, but refuses to install onto it. First it comes up with Error 80300025, followed by an insistent error that Windows requires 7Gb to install.

I've changed the BIOS controller to AHCI, ensured that the SSD is the only drive plugged in to the SATA 3_0 port, with the DVD drive plugged into the SATA 2_5 drive, but it still refuses to install. I've updated all the Motherboard firmware from the HDD Windows install, but that hasn't made any difference, nor has updating the SSD firmware from the OCZ Toolbox.

I'm using a Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard with I-5 2600k (The Overclockers Krypton Bundle This yin) Is there something really fundamental I'm not seeing here?!

That error i think is driver related. The SATA controller driver. Do you have the motherboard cd? You can load the driver for that on the same screen in the install that asks you to choose which hard drive you want to install.

Tried that, Windows installer says there's no drivers available on the disk...

how far you got with instalation if youve got to format have you selected the right partion as windows makes a small partion which is to small to put windows on

On the SSD? No installation at all. I can choose the 64 or 86 install, then it asks which drive I want to install to; I select the empty SSD and then the above happens.

You should be able to format the SSD on that screen as well. Though I don't think i've seen a windows 7 install disk offering both 64 and 86 installs. Usually get 1 of each DVD in the box.

Huh, seems to be installing now. I'd left the HDD connected with the SSD in the first slot, and Windows is happily installing to it now. Hopefully to the right drive!

Well the one time i have seen that error code during install (wasn't to an SSD mind) was when i tried to use an OEM disk that did not contain a full driver pack. Hense my first question about drivers. Its a media i have never seen, to have both versions on.
