SSD - Windows cannot be installed on this disk

How did you make the media from the ISO you downloaded? There's usually a choice at that time depending what tool you are using to make the media. When you boot off that media, you need to make sure you boot it in UEFI mode. Most modern motherboards let you choose a boot device, at boot time, and devices will show as both UEFI and legacy. You need to choose the UEFI version.

I think it was the MS media creation tool, will ask again to confirm and also pass on the other info.

Big thanks to all who have offered help so far.

They are still waiting for admin clearance.

Just to answer the last question:
The SSD is being wiped in Windows before trying the install, using diskpart > list disk > select disk # > clean.

In the screenshot I posted, is that not how the SSD should look after a successful install?

I noticed on their HDD (which works fine) in the screenshot that the C partition isn't active and the System Reserved partition is active.

My own Windows 10 laptop doesn't have the C partition displayed as active either and it works fine.

Apologies for not replying to latest queries. My friend hasn't been online for a while so I can't forward any info.
Hoping they will post here in person when back online.
