Hi,

I'm after a definitive answer to this:
Do SSDs in RAID 1 configuration support TRIM now/yet?

Everything I've read online seems to still support the "no" answer, but then the articles are mostly from 2010/11.

Some more recent reports of Intel supporting RAID with TRIM... but I think that's RAID 0 only, and then only with certain Intel motherboards.

Thanks

I dont think so. As far as I know there is only raid 0 support, and that is only on intel 7 series boards (i.e. z77).

Why would you want to RAID two SSD's in RAID 1 configuration? Seems like a waste to me!

Because I'm not in charge of specifying things.
Current configuration is 2 HDDs in Raid1.

Those in charge think that swapping to 2 SSDs in the same configuration would bring mighty benefits.

There's an article on AnandTech that mentions preexisting Trim support for RAID1 when they're talking about RAID0 support coming in.

Presumably if RAID1 was justified when using traditional HDDs it's justified when using SSDs. It's probably more important as SSDs don't give much notice of impending failure.
