SSDs - When does write speed matter?

I'm after a ~64Gb drive and I'm torn between the V2E and the C300.

I'll be using it to run windows 7 from, as well as all my commonly used programs and apps.

My newbie question is whether write speed is at all important for this type of useage? If someone could give me some examples of uses/situations where write speed would be very important in an SSD that would be great.

Would I be right in thinking that for my apps outlined above that a fast read SSD such as the C300 would be ideal?

I guess I don't quite yet understand why sometimes the V2E is recommended and sometimes the C300.

Thanks all.

For a OS, write isn't important as much as reading. I got a 2E as I am on sata 2 and after reading about sandforce with Durawrite it seemed the better choice.

I'll recommend what I always do :)

If you're on SATA2, with no plans of moving forward in the future, go with a sandforce.

If you're on SATA2, and plan to upgrade very soon, or already are SATA3, go with a Marvell. SATA3 will allow you to unleash the C300 to reads of up to 355mb/s.

For your usage, read is more important, but SATA2 caps at about 285mb/s read, so the write becomes appealing due to 'value for money' so to speak.

Hopefully this makes sense, and is helpful for you!
