Looking for a new car, and on my searches I have found an ST-3 I like the look of. Was just wondering if it is resonabily priced or way over priced for what it is.

Looking at an 07 model with near 30k on the clock for £13k. Some people are saying to me that it's overpriced, and some are sayings it's cheap for it's age and there must be something wrong with it. From a dealership and comes with a 3 year warrenty from what looks like a 3rd party warrenty company.

Peoples views?

Cheers

Just got back from seeing it, nice tidy motor, only problem I could see was slight scruff on one alloy which is nothing to me really, might see if I can get a test drive on Friday, didn't have time today.

last year i got an 07 ST-2 for £12k with 5100 on the clock!!! remember the ST-3 only has 2 back seats and cannot take 3 people in the back legally

I bought a 56 plate ST3 in december 09 (car was registered 29th december 2006 so almost 07) with satnav, rear park sensors for £10.5k.

lol didn't notice that. Not that it bothers me much, there's only been a few occasions in owning my car that 5 people have been in the car, most used is only the front 2.

Am I the only one viewing this thread wondering what an ST2 or ST3 actually is? :o :D - Focus at a guess from thepharcydes sig.... ?

You probably are the only one wondering, but yes, they are Focus STs - not sure on the differences apart from seats though. Its a pet peeve of mine at the moment that the Focus ST has become the "ST" - kids these days dont realise that branding has been around for ages

I didn't even notice the OP just said ST3 :p

I think the only difference between the ST2 and ST3 is leather seats, 6cd changer and a couple of other smaller equipment choices.

People with ST's, what tyres do you go for? And generally how long do they last?

I'm just trying to tot up a few general maintenance figures, not that it'll put me off buying the car if it drives nice, just curious more than anything.

I'm currently using Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta change the handling of the car a lot more sharper. Wear seems good

Ford service around £310 per annum, fuel £55 on super a tank, will not see above 350 miles per tank. I get 35mpg on a run and 27 average.

I would definitely not have one if it was my daily runner. It's my weekend car and only do circa 7k miles a year.

If you get one think about chipping it. Mine has a claimed 270 bhp with a chip that you load on and off via a handset. Also consider a Ford warranty if it's under 60k miles. I have extended mine for 3 years for £997.

Common faults. Drive shaft are a weak point. They knock. A fix is to glue them to the hub that was recently done with mine.

Bad points, the front end is prone for stone chips. I have just had my front bumper resprayed after 2 years, but I do drive on B roads mostly so understandable.
