ST-3 Question

I thought the recaro rear bench upgrade made the car a 4 seater, despite it being a ST3.

I thought (without checking) that a ST3 can be had in a 5 seat option!

No just 2 seat in the rear on the ST3 for both the 3 & 5dr

Ford service around £310 per annum, fuel £55 on super a tank, will not see above 350 miles per tank. I get 35mpg on a run and 27 average.

What is your average mpg made up of?

I'm averaging 23-24 on a daily commute - A roads with a stretch of motorway and a few traffic queues!

I will defer as i ended up purchasing a 4 seater only anyhow, but i remember the Recaro rear bench option dropped the car from 5 to 4 seats when i was looking!

I would suggest checking out the focus st owners club forum but its down for maintenance.

We use ours daily, manage about 27mpg mainly dual carridge and fast B road action. Tried super unleaded but made no difference as I could tell so run it on standard. Just got 4 Falken FK452 put on today, before that the sport contact 2 lasted about 9k on the front.
A good car if a little thirsty and if you can put up with interior rattles

this is the ODU so how accurate I do not know? I only use it weekends so no weekday stop start traffic commuting. I never ever see under 25mpg.

This is a mixture of sedate and progressive driving. Dreamscience does seem to have improved my MPG if I do not drive like a nutter.

What rattles are these? Door seals? Mine were squeaking like mad until I purchased some of this stuff. Instant silence

The rear suspnsion covers rattle on B roads, thankfully in the front its not too noticable. The dash creaks a fair bit in the mornings but for now the doors have been silent

I currently get around 30-35 MPG out of my 11 year old Fiesta lol (roungh figures), but I have my bike for my commute (when the weather picks up) which gives me between 80-100 MPG in anyway, no matter how much I say it to people they still dont believe me that I would drive sensibley, only with the occasional hooning ;) and sounds wouldn't bother me too much as it's always heavy metal blasting out in my car, lol.

The only thing that is bothering me, is I think what is bothering my dad the most (other than being powerful), we have no drive so parked on the road in the night, it's either going to get keyed, or stolen, due to the charming people in the surrounding areas lol. But I've just said, if I want to own something nice, I'm not going to let scumbags stop me owning it, if it happens, it happens.

Do you drive everywhere at 50mph in 6th off boost??

I did 320 miles in my ST today. 160 miles down South, was running late so wasn't hanging about. Saw 25 mpg despite the distance and it being motorway pretty much all the way. The way back was a more relaxed drive and saw 28mpg.

If I hammer it I can get down to 22mpg.

I didn't even notice the OP just said ST3 :p

I think the only difference between the ST2 and ST3 is leather seats, 6cd changer and a couple of other smaller equipment choices.

Thats what was throwing me, I'm no where near as up on my Modern Fords as perhaps I should be.... Give me an 80's model and I'm a bit more at home - and showing my age.... :o:)

Anyway, I know a tad more about Ford Focus's now, which is the whole point of a motors discussion forum! :D

Gord, I used to think 320 out of a tank was good:p

Mine used to give me on average 28, that was on a long commute not sticking to 70mph, I used to give it a bit of welly n'all, but mainly my driving was long runs so my average was better. When I used to stay local, the mpg would drop to 24ish, never had it much below that.I did get 36mpg once when I drove upto Edinburgh from the Midlands. In contrast my Diesel Accord now gives me 38-39mpg with the same style of driving.

I haven't heard of any Focus ST getting nicked without the keys, there have been a couple of stories from the owners club forum about people breaking in to steal the keys and a couple of car jackings in Manchester.

I think you've got the right attitude about this though, you pay insurance to cover this. Obviously its a lot better if it didn't happen but if we all worried all the time about what could happen nobody would be out on the road!

The owners club forum is still down for a server upgrade but its the best place to ask detailed questions before you make a decision

get about 300 out of a tank and average 25-27mpg on my daily commute of about 20miles, its rubbish on fuel and munches tyres but hey its good fun, you dont buy a Focus ST for the fuel economy !!
