Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knew of issues with the Seagate ST3250823AS drives?
I have one as a backup drive but have noticed over the last month or so my system randomly locking up/freezing for a few minutes and i've seem to have narrowed it down to the ST3250823AS. The drive seems to be ok when reading data off it (have transferred 10/15GBs off the drive with no lock ups) but writing data to the drive seems to cause the drive to lock (for a few minutes) which in turn causes my system to freeze.
I've now moved the drive to an external enclosure and it still seems to be the same (using either eSata, via the JMicron chipset, or USB).
There’s no errors in the event logs and i've ran HD Tune Pro error scan which doesn't show any errors. There was also no audible clicks during the HD Tune error scan (from what i'm lead to believe, clicking usually means remapped sectors = bad sectors). The only audible sound is short bursts (every 10 seconds or so, for roughly a minute) after activity (and during the freezing/lock up) which sound like the drive is searching?
I'm about to run Seagate tools, but can anyone else recommend any other tests that might show up an errors with the drive?
cheers
