my athlon 64 3500+ @2.6 beats my 805 at 4ghz on superpi.... but only just...

Thats a pretty good comparrison.. and a conroe at 2.6 would thrash the pants off an 805 @ 4ghz...

Have you taken into account variables such as different memory,board etc?
Any idea what the difference would be in office/photoshop applications?

Ram comparison, didn't think of that one for superPi, although even though my ddr2 with my 805 is at 400mhz, the timings are no where near as tight as the timings i had my ddr1 ram on my a64, and i find superpi scores can be improved greatly by tighter timings... But yeah, some nice gaming/office benchmarks would be great to see!

Not too bothered if the 805 isn't as good, 1, it's dual core, which is a step in the right direction, 2, i can say i have a 4ghz processor

Thats because your AMD rig prefers tighter timings. Conroes do not see huge performance boosts by tight timings like the a64's do.

Sorry cheeky, but the AMD64 @ 2.7 is quicker than your 4ghz P4.

AMD64 likes mem timings more than FSB, so DDR2 does nothing to AMDs performance.

You may beat it just in SuperPi/encoding but it will beat you in gaming.

I wouldn't really call that an overclock. Now if it was at 400fsb x 10, then that would be amazing.

Well, as no1 is actually postig any benchmarks... have these.. (i still believe that the opty is gonna get *** win in this one...)

Now ofc the last 2 are gonna be gpu based, so not best comparisson... but hey, have fun
