Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'd noticed it on my screen (late 2013 15" MBP) for a few months now, tiny spots around the screen bezel. It just wouldn't clean off, and it looked like a bubble you might get putting a screen protector on a phone.

I never thought anything of it, especially as there weren't any of these spots over the actual display, but I'm getting more and more patches spreading all round the bezel now, and it seems other people's screens look even worse!

**** out of luck if you're out of AppleCare/warranty, what an expensive cost to replace something so mundane.

I won't be buying anything Apple again, put it that way. I spent 1800 on my rmbp and it's a piece of crap compared to what I was prepared to receive for that money. It's creaky, bends slightly when picked up from one side, the bottom plate hits the internal components, the keyboard backlights periodically don't work and I also have that graphics problem that causes random reboots. Feel of the screen is horrible too, I feel like I'm about to break it every time I clean it, which is rarely as a result.

Yup the wifes 2015 RMBP has the stains in three areas. Anyone tried to arrange a repair under consumer law option?

Looking online some people have stains across the whole screen.

Apparently people have, with varying success. Some get replaced, others say they were told cosmetic damage isn't covered. Think I read that on bbc.

I have this issue. It does not bother me at the moment as it is concentrated on the bezel. However it is spreading around the bezel and is almost covering the camera... should this affect the screen in any way (or the camera) then I will take it in to the apple store. Until then I am fine with it.

It's pretty poor from Apple to be honest. Clearly something to do with the adhesive or process used to manufacture the display to have no gap between the plastic and the actual display. Such a basic flaw.

Going to try and arrange an out of warranty repair for the wifes, looks like it's an inherent flaw so will push that angle.

Absolutely. There's no way it can be classed as wear/general use etc, which is the only angle they could use really not to honour a repair even out of warranty.

This has plagued Apple for as long as they've been making devices. My 2009 iMac suffers from "screen yellowing / yellow tint". It's plagued pretty much every iMac released before and after (particularly first runs), MacBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iPhones...

No idea who they're buying panels from, but you think they'd have stopped. I find it hard to believe they'd switch suppliers and still suffer the same issues, from the mid 00s to now with screen yellowing.

I've had loads of screen trouble with Apple machines. I've seen and used iMacs that get so hot that the screen burns (you can see it when the machine is off!), a small area of my 2010 MBP screen blackens when it gets hot (I've posted in OCUK about this before), and now this.

Apple: Form over function since the release of the iPhone. ;)

watergate !

Yes I know why they use gate !!! :o

Its just best left to MAJOR No and coverups from the government and not some stupid glue issue.

The nation or conglomerate that is AKA Apple is not going to collapse over this.. Bent Jobs is not going to step down.

Nah. It's the coatings on the outer surface of the glass coming off.

Then again if they didn't use glass it wouldn't be an issue. The coatings help reduce the reflections, which were appalling on my 2008 aluminium MacBook. I purposely got an AR screen on my 2011, shame they don't offer that option now.

Are you sure this isn't just oil/grease that has oxidised/polymerised and interfering with the anti-reflective coating?
I have seen photos of this online and yet we have loads of these Retina MacBooks at work and while they do sometimes show these marks, they wipe off with propanol and/or Aristowax invisible windows glass cleaner spray.

Will keep an eye out for this.

I bought a new rMBP the week before last and also have a late 2012 machine that was just returned today after having the screen replaced (not due to this problem).

I'll try some isopropyl alcohol, but pretty sure these look like they're beneath the surface.
