Stalker 2

Anyone tried DLSS5 on this yet? I have to say I'm not impressed at all. Just looks like a reshade filter but costs half your frames lol

So, been keeping an eye on this thread for ages now and it's not apparent whether the game is any good as all everyone is talking about is graphics. Is it worth playing with the new patches?
It is ok but nothing special . Towards the end push i just got bored and rushed it to complete the story.

I'm not sure what the best upscaling settings are, but I think I slightly prefer XeSS over FS4. Both seem good, though.
What are other folks using?

I'm trying to download the Ultra Plus mod from Nexus, but I can't even tell whether it has downloaded.

I haven't used Nexus in ages, so maybe the procedures have changed significantly since then.
I tried Firefox with all extensions disabled; nothing; the same with Chrome.

Sorted. What a palaver... jumping through almost endless hoops.

Okay, so in-game, I have the mod overlay enabled, but I can't see any difference.
Reads... Status: Running - U+ not detected.

Status: Running - U+ Extensions Active... but it still doesn't look any different to me.

make sure you turn on Automatically Apply Configuration, mine didn't work without that. Good way to test if it's working is alt tab out and have half screen the game and half screen UPM and turn off fog. You'll know

Yup, already had that selected.

I think I can see some differences now; I've never seen system memory so high - or VRAM, come to think of it.
I just whacked most settings up to insane to see if my system could handle it, but eventually all I got was a black screen (icons, etc. still present).

How do you perform the half-screen UPM thing you mentioned?

^^ Ahh, I think that must have been when selecting HDR Output.

I assume that the Active Upscaler / Ray Reconstruction / Reflection and Denoiser can't be tweaked since I'm using an AMD GPU?

I don't know what all the settings mean, but with pretty much everything set to maximum to see the impact on performance, I saw around 26 FPS at 1440p.
Then, with AMD upscaling/frame generation, it pushed it up to around 65~70. :) Currently in Zalissya.

Some of that balancing stuff can be mitigated with a new game now as you can scale individual components to your preference. I started a new game so at least mutants go down with a reasonable amount of shots now, but I set the economy to abundant and have had to dump piles of stuff in random places so in hindsight I probably should have chosen the more balanced option lol.

From my (limited) test, the new customs mods basically break the original presets (easy, medium, hard, very hard) into the same difficulty, but for economy, NPCs, monsters and anomalies / zone.
It's still bad, nothing changes. With mods... it flourish! I'd say is the same with Bethesda games > you need mods to make them shine. No more bullet sponge enemies, no more dumbed down ARs, etc.

Leave Upscaler to game and you can select in game what works best for your. Same for Denoiser. RR is not implemented natively and it doesn't work ok - at least in my end.

I have the Ultra Plus mode installed as stand alone mod organizer install (like Vortex is), works nice, detects the game, click download, it downloads the mods and click play to play :D
You could set the game in window mode and alt tab to change details and see how it looks + performance impact.
Also check "Automatically Apply Configuration" to ON.

No bugs here :)

I'm able to play this game with dlss5 pretty well albeit with 3 or 4x frame gen and there's no latency at least not enough for me to notice. I'm using Optiscaler mod to apply the neutral rendering at 75% of final res which shaves ~15fps off the cost of running it. Honestly though, I still don't think it's really worth it. Game does look more realistic but you get over it pretty quickly.

True. You should sell your 5080 and get a 5060 16GB and knock graphics settings from max to medium. You would get over it pretty quickly :D

This really has improved a lot since the latest patches.

Looks great (even without hwrt), runs great, and with only two mods (must haves, for me), very enjoyable.

The two mods?

The ability to sell broken weapons...to balance out the extortionate repair costs.

And a no weight mod for ammo and consumables to help with the first mod.

I know there are mods for repair prices, but want to keep them to a minimum.

I played a bit, didn't grab me sadly. Will try again in a few months once @Kelt has done some beta testing for me :D

Had great fun last night killing three of those damned chameleon bloodsuckers, whilst cheesing on top of a bulldozer!

Beats chimney sweeping, that's for sure! :p

  • Haha
Reactions: TNA
have they actually fixed performance yet? ran like crap on a 4090 at release.
did thewy ever add hardware ray tracing etc

Runs superb on my 4090 with 2xFG.

No stuttering, and little to no pop-in that I notice.

No HWRT I'm afraid, but s/w lumen doesn't do a bad job, it still looks pretty good.
