The original was using the in-house x-ray engine, only the stalker games used this engine and it was buggy. The new game is using UE5 so the only things they need to make sure are sorted is the typical UE5 shader and traversal stuttering.
Technical Producer Yevhenii Kulyk shed light on the how they wrangled the beast.
"To make [a] world this big, we had to adapt and [rewrite] and upgrade some tools that were provided by... the basic Unreal Engine to fit our needs to create [this] world."
"To meet our expectations… for optimization for Xbox and PCs as well, we made [a lot] of changes to basically render threads, some CPU optimisations, a lot of RAM optimisations."
is that windows 98? nothing happened that quickly on windows 98 ffs. literally unplayable, pre-order cancelled etc etcBut pre ordering is silly!!!!!!!!!
but it could be as good as starfield was, I bet no one regrets a preorder of that...With this game like many over the last few years it is better to wait then preorder. Just to many bad release's or unfinished games now.
This is going to sound like blasphemy to some but I did not like the original stalker game back in the day.

I got the expansion included with mine for that and still never tried it yet...
TNA & MRK have me convinced this is going to be good so I'ma upgrade my monitor to a new oled monitor for maximum enjoyment and true blacks.
this games probably a 5/10 on a TFT
But will they get the HDR right? Too many games have awful HDR on PC. I nabbed Callisto Protocol while ot was free on EGS and the black levels are raised far too high, same with Cyberpunk and Helldivers 2. Is that just on AMD or does it differ on Nvidia? This kind of game is built for an OLED. You won’t be disappointed, it’s a huge upgrade.
Hmm, sounds dangerously close to Tarkov where some high level dude will gun you down and pinch all your precious gear! What would have been really cool is if when plaing single player, other stalkers you encounter are also people playing the story in their own games and you can cross paths.

Either way I'm sure it'll look grand in SDR on an OLED anyway.
