I suspect in this particular case, the Russians might have had something to say as to why things arent quite as tested as they might have beenOut of genuine curiosity - why is it so many games now require patching for sometimes quite obvious things?
I've been out of the loop awhile so probably missing something obvious but back in the day, patches were released for issues the makers didn't know about at the time of release.
I find it hard to believe the makers would see the reported issues and then think 'ahh the AI, we should've tested that'.
*I'm not saying this game has issues, i've not played it yet. Just something that seems to be commonplace with major releases now.

Is this your hard drive?17 minutes to compile textures on a 5800X3D / 6800XT, does it get any quicker the more you kick the game off? It reminds me of the old ZX Spectrum days having to load games from a tape cassette before you could play them only I don't think they took that long.

Interesting ! I'll give that a goSeem to have fixed the mouse lag. Turned frame cap off and v sync on. Everything maxed out at 4k, seem to be getting about 80fps, with frame gen on. I’ll take that.
The gameplay, gameworld and high level of immersion are very similar to Stalker 1 , did you enjoy Stalker 1 or is Stalker 2 your first step into the Stalker-verse?Not enjoying it so far.
The interface isn't particularly good, the dialogue is boring, and sadly the game is visually very boring.
My experience so far, found myself stuck at the start not knowing how to use the scanner, only to find myself standing around for 5-10 minutes scanning pools of sludge before the artifact magically appeared, then got killed by an invisible / reappearing monster. A few deaths later, some guy is giving me instructions and how to throw a bolt to reset anomalies, seems simple enough but died getting caught on some invisible terrain. Then passed what appears to be firefight, of course they all turned their weapons on me, at this point all you have a knife, a few more deaths later I manage to kill them, and I have missions. Then I arrive at the first town and the framerate feels like it's dropped to 45fps, it's claiming 90fps but that's just FG BS.
Not sure what to make of it, the atmosphere seems good but I get the impression it's all smoke and mirrors and it's pretty empty actually. The lighting in the game, can look nice but generally looks very dark in the interiors to the point of needing a flashlight during the day.
I will play a little more but this seems pretty bad to me, hopefully the story gets better.
I wouldnt say its getting trashed in reviews (not that how a game reviews compared to its original should carry any weight on whether you as an individual like a game anyway) , most reviews I've seen put it at a 7/10 or an 8/10 (79% currently on Steam) and in my view getting trashed in reviews is like a 3/10 not a 7 or 8.If you say so, but the original was well reviewed, and this is getting trashed. Seems to suggest otherwise.
My opinion of the v/o is ,What's the general opinion of the v/o? I've tried* to avoid watching any gameplay vids (waiting for fixes before buying), but from the couple I've seen, it sounds a bit "off". I played the original in 2007 and remember the accents being primarily Russian / Ukrainian. Is that the case with the sequel?
To a Ukranian speaker I guess that might be a thing but as a non-Ukranian speaker the atmosphere of the Ukranian voices is a much better fit than the English (or even the English with an accent)Strangely a lot of natural Ukrainian speakers say the Ukrainian voice acting is terrible. Some even put it to English as it sound better.
I don’t speak Ukrainian but the voice acting does sound bad in both. It’s the usual lack of urgency that’s the problem. These people are in a high stress scenario and the dialogue sounds like it’s being read of a script in a sound booth.

Definitely seems to be a stability difference between the Gamepass version and the Steam version (not the first game I've seen that with tbf)Playing this on Gamepass with a 3080 and its a stuttery mess.![]()
Sounds like the statues and other physical items that you get in collectors editionswhat are you meant to do stick them in your personal stash and look at them once a day?

Oh they still would complain...complaining is what many gamers do, about everything...ever...I swear some gamers actually hate gamingAlmost like they released an unfinished game. Should have just done it as early access then people couldn't complain.

Oh dont get me wrong, theres certainly a case for it to have been EA, its just that it wouldnt have stopped the complaints because thats what so many gamers do, moan about every game, forums chock full of people finding something to moan about in every title. As I say, I'm sure there are some people out there who claim that gaming is their hobby and they're gamers, yet turn around and say they havent played a good game for 5 years and I always read that and think then why the hell are you still gaming, I wouldnt do something I dont enjoy for 5 years, so yeah, even if it had come out in EA , the complaining wouldnt have stopped, it would just be complaints about the cost of the EA, or the amount of diskspace it takes up, or the lack of preload, or the audio, or the colours on the screen, or that the gun barrel isnt accurately drawn to match the real gun in RL, or that there's too many (insert race/gender/sexuality) or that there isnt enough (insert race/gender/sexuality) or that their keyboard is dirty or some other complaint. Gamers and moaning goes hand in handI mean, I'm on the complainers side. I actually meant it should have been early access because thats what devs do when they want the community to QA their game. It was released in such a poor state. I'm glad people are having fun but they really took the pee. Too many people justifying it too.

Yeah theres nothing wrong with someone who has complaints about a certain game, or even about a few games, its the people who complain about almost every game that get me (I'm casting one eye at you Mack from WorthabuyWell I agree, some complain for the sake of complaining. Steam forums are just troll farms now, Steam needs to do something about it.
But I think the general complacency from the community is due to the erosion of good will within the gaming community over time. A lot of games have been released in poor states. Last one that really annoyed me was cyberpunk. Then there's the corruption of IPs due to trying to extract maximum profit. Dragon age is nothing like what was expected from the franchise. FPS games are skin merchants full of aim botters with no real solution in sight, look at the travesty of the battlefield and call of duty series now. The woke culture complaints in my mind are valid, I have nothing against LGBT and even have some close friends that identify as such but having the agenda shoe horned into everything becoming the main point of whatever film/game it is is getting tiresome (and plenty of LGBT people agree with that), it shouldn't be seen as something "different" it should just be accepted as normal. The reason it is being pushed is because its pop culture right now, again trying to obtain maximum profit. I know you mean well and I get your point but you shouldn't silence people with valid concerns by saying people are just moaning.
), those are the ones where I just roll my eyes at them and think oh look, yet another game this person doesnt like, why do they bother gaming at all they clearly dont enjoy it.In honour of IGN, I give that article a 7/10IGN in good article shocker..
