Stalker 2

Yup but worth it and not really that much of an issue on nvidia gpus unless you refuse to use dlss and frame gen.

Well with the devs roadmap announced there, seems this will have to make do, doesn't look like HW RT will be anytime soon now.

I've installed that mod and then gone into the config and set everything to what he recommends plus the scaling options to what he recommends if you have powerful hardware.
Without FG I need DLSS balanced to get a steady 60FPS, FG boosts this to 100-110. It's very playable and looks amazing, but it's really making my 5090 sweat which I wasn't expecting :)

The two items I was hoping for on the roadmap was hardware RT and New Game Plus
TBH, New Game Plus is more important to me because I've gone to a lot of effort to have a nice full stash of everything I can ever need and I'd love to play through again and use it all against scaled up enemies

On what difficulty level are you currently playing?

Just the standard difficulty. I know I can toggle it to veteran to make the enemies tougher, but if I'm going to play through the whole game again I'd like to start with my kit :D
Probably you'll be better off with some mods as it should provide a more meaningful, different experience. Could be a case of "whatever rocks your boat", but the fire fights at the start, to me, are just the same later on and, without a better economy, it gets frustrating real fast with the artificial low bullet count, high costs of (forced) maintenance and so on. Is the same stupid concept Metro had on higher difficulties where the rules were so bent and out of place that the game world itself would not exist if it were to run by them.

for any of you interested in picking up Stalker 2. CD keys have it on for £27.99 at time of posting but you can also get a £3.00 of voucher bringing it down to £24.99 lowest i have seen it so far.
Ahh thanks , I might do that as still not purchased. Can I then add that onto Steam platform do you know or need to be seperate?

Edit: purchased (with the extra discount code) and now activated on Steam, by far the cheapest price I have seen and too good to miss :) Thank you :)

yes it gets annoying when you keep looting 2 bullets and a broken gun off every bandit. Their guns seemed to work OK before I killed them. At least their sausages are intact. Maybe I need to improve my aim but it gets tedious

Yeah the loot system is dull, you need to haul back a decent amount of gear to pay the repair costs which leads to the long overweight slog back to base.

It's a crap system, copied from their previous games, but made worse. Unfortunately, under different forms, you find its presence in the majority of games and genres to some degree. Basically, they don't want or are incapable of producing a proper gameplay loop, so you have this dumb down, game braking version.

Mods like "AbundantAmmo" (I have the AbundatAmmo100.pak) can remedy some of the issue by increasing the ammo on the NPCs and others like Maklane's Better gunfights make the NPCs less terminators (seeing and hitting you trough vegetation from far away).

Overall all is fun to explore, world art/building is good (way, way better than what Bethesda, for instance, can ever produce with the likes of Fallout), guns sound good (sound in general seems like it got some extra attention vs the median game) and is a nice little strol for me as a Stalker fan.

BTW, some quick firing shotguns can be useful against Bloodsuckers (boy, that's an overpowered bullet sponge) or other enemies as they have a nice ratio of bullets/weight/time to kill.

PS: ballistics is sooooo bad that a small 9x18mm pistol does more dmg than an AK assault rifle :))))

Finally completed it after 190hrs
I've got saves at the various points where the choice I make will change the ending, but I'll leave it as is at the moment.

There are still memory leaks which cause the game to completely freeze with 99% of my ram & page file used up. Happened twice after the point of no return.
Once these last bugs are fixed, there is HW lumen and maybe some DLC I may go back and explore the other endings
