STALKER Complete 2009 mod

Bit of a ressurection but it saves making a new thread on it.

I'm not looking for a graphics mod as i'm pretty sure this pc can't handle it (i'm running Red Faction Guerilla at 800x600 resolution for christ sake!). With that in mind is it worth getting the Complete 09 mod or should i go for Oblivion Lost instead? I've never really seen any mention of OL but it seems more focused on gameplay not graphics whereas Complete is both.

I'd say LURK is a good one but makes the maps too dark for my liking.

No offense but if your pc struggles with RF:G at 800x600 it;s not going to run Soc at stock let alone anything else.
 
I have played with both and I'd wholeheartedly recommend OL over complete. Given the choice of complete's graphics or OL's gameplay OL wins hands-down as I have given up playing with better graphics but I couldn't imagine playing without OL's improved gameplay.

(Make sure to get OL 2.2)

*searches* 2.2? I thought it was only up to 2.1.1. Now i'm just confused. 2.2 is almost 80mb smaller and there really doesn't seem to be as much about it as 2.1.1.

It doesn't seem that bad, i fired it up and it seemed to be running smoothly on default Medium settings. RFG ran fine at 1024x768 but would have real problems after the game had been on for a while or things ran in the background.

i played the first stalker when it came out all those years ago and i wasnt to impressed tbh, but the idea behind the games always apeals to me but the fact you could only walk the zone put me off from trying one of the newer stalker games out.

ive noticed some mods that seem to enable the vehicles in the game though? do they work well? how good can stalker cop look with mods?

Apparently they work fine, but they also don't agree with anomolies, especially in Oblivion Lost where the anomolies change location. As the mod info said, if you hit a Whirligig in a vehicle... jump. That said i doubt i'll use em, probably more trouble than they're worth.

Traveling about in CoP isn't that much of an issue,unless you're overloaded with guns lol.The areas are smaller,but there's more stuff to do.
 
I noticed you can spawn vehicles in CS with the Complete mod's wish granter. They seem a bit crappy though.

What would have been great in stalker is if you could get a crosser motorbike :cool:. Would have made going from area to area a lot faster and more fun.

The wish granter is also great fun for spawning different factions and standing back to watch them fight. I spawned 20 Freedom expert soldiers and 10 Duty expert soldiers and the Duty all survived :eek:.

Play clear sky with the complete mod.
COp is ok but very empty tbh, and SOH is good but not really ,great for me either.
Cs though (especially with complete) is damn near perfect.

Got a bad rep at launch due to massie bugs but they've been patchjed out and complete finishes any left behind.

Also with complete it's the best looking out of the whole series.

Horrifically bad, never bother with them they're just cobbled together from unfinished and uncut code left in the first game.

i bit the bullet and bought COP .

got atmosfear , atmosfear hi-res texture pack , absolute nature (texture mod), absolute structures (texture mod) and realistic weapons.

doesnt look to bad i tried all settings maxed out with 32x AA @ 1080p but think it was to much for my card :D

i think maybe realistic weapons mod makes the enemie weapons realistic aswell thought because i died in what seemed one shot on the easiest difficulty lol....

they did warn me to go away but i couldnt resist seeing how nice the building looked up close and then they called me a retard and started shooting at me lol :D
 
Oblivion Lost is going nicely so far. Got myself an AN-94 Akaban from some military at the Agrothingy research place but it seriously needs repairing, i've never seen a gun jam so much even though its condition isn't THAT bad. Also bought a Hunting Shotgun from the first trader which is damn effective at close-mid range.

The only thing thats driving me insane is the grenades... I have no problem with enemies shooting me unless i do something stupid (after all i am on Hell difficulty) but the grenades throws are utterly ridiculous. They can lob em like olympic javelin champions and the kill radius is huge.
 
Just tried to play Vanilla COP but it looks awful. I think I'll have to wait for the complete mod as IMO the gfx add a lot to the game.
 
Yeah, grenades have always been a problem in SOC. Not much you can do except run like buggery if you see one being lobbed your way.

Don't sit still long enough for them to lob one at you works best.


Never saw the problem with grenades my self because I'm used to mp games so always think "if i were him I'd lob a grenade at me...I should move before he realises that" :p

Meh, if only it worked like that... I reached the guy in Garbage where you enter the big train station and started that fight and unless i shot 1 of the Bandits first he would pelt a grenade from 1 side of the building to the other, WAY beyond what you can throw, pretty much regardless of movement. The number of times it blew me up or killed everyone behind me despite being nowhere near was huge.

They aren't that bad in general, but in some set pieces they are just a joke.
 
Just finished CoP and I'm pretty disappointed; the whole game just felt too lacklustre, the maps, missions, etc ... it was a short and hollow experience for me. :(

Also the atmosphere in the game was was lacking imo. Not sure what it was, but it didn't have the same eeriness and "wtf was that?!" vibe to it, which the previous games excelled in - it all felt a little too 'normal' and somewhat forced. The exploration aspect of the game was limited compared to the previous two games.

Also Pripyat felt completely wasted. Even though it was probably larger than the Pripyat map in SoC, it felt a lot smaller, with very little to do and explore. I know at the end, there's an option to stay (I assume this is the freeplay mode?), but I didn't bother, had lost interest a little way back by then.

Have to agree with Tefal here, apart from the very beginning and very end, Clear Sky was overall, the best game, once you got past the bugs and quirks.

yeah all the stalkers fall down at the very end :(

they go for big climactic battles which the engine and game play mechanics just don't do.

in SoC I'd have much preferred to sneak into the NPPC though an anomaly field and explored the destroyed reactor etc seeing anomalies that never appeared in the game before rather than chore like fight.
 
ai cheats to :P they shoot the walls before they can even see you ^_^ atleast in COP

Well for some reason the AI on SoC seems to enjoy trying to shoot through walls once they know where you are. I grabbed the documents from the military base last night and (having had a blowout in the middle of it which is GREAT fun... shaking the screen around madly while the enemies are uneffected) and while i was hiding under the stairs 1 soldier was stood behind the building shooting at my exact location through the wall behind me.

Course everythings easier when theres room to sneak. Great fun showing your face in 1 spot to shoot, then running around and catching em all looking the wrong way.
