Stalker COP - How can I display my frame rate

Thanks for that, I just tried fraps and getting 60+ FPS on max setting 1920x1080. I just seem to get this odd stutter every 2 seconds which seems to coincide with a burst of HD activity and was intersted to see what was happening. I think its time for a OS reinstall as things are getting slow in general - can't wait to get an SSD too!

I have that too, or at least something similar. About every 15 minutes of play I get several seconds of frozen game where even the sounds stops then it's all running smoothly again.

My game shows 70FPS constant but I always feel juddering with Stalker - it just feels really un-smooth to play.

I used FRAPS to check my FPS as I honestly believed I was getting 10-20 most of the time, quite confused when it came up with 70. Also Screen tear, even with Vsync is absolutely horrible in this game for me.

V-Sync in this series has never worked, I don't know why they include the option.
Use a nice little program called D3D Overrider to give you triple buffered v-sync in this game (It also works in many other games with bad v-sync support).
Performance hit is not bad. Just leave the in-game option off.
Also, all Stalker games have occasional frame-rate hitches when entering certain areas regardless of overall performance.
Having just got an SSD, I'm going to see if that helps, otherwise it's just a fact to put up with. It hasn't really spoiled my enjoyment of the games.

Interesting comments, thanks.
I just realised using RivaTuner that my GFX card speed is dropping down to a idle state (like 3d performance speed is dropping out for a moment) this seems to be causing the stutter. I've never really had any issue with this card in any games except this one. I have had the occasional hick-up that was resolved with v-sync or a driver update.

If you have Riva tuner, you already have D3D Overrider, it's in one of the folders. Thats where I got it, although I uninstalled riva after, as I don't overclock.
BTW, at least in the 1st release, FRAPS caused the game to not start. That may have been resolved since.
