STALKER - Which one to play?

Played it for a few hours. I enjoyed it at first, then started to hate it and started to enjoy it again. I did the Hardcore start in the house surrounded by zombies. Couldn't find a weapon that worked until I got lucky near the mercenary base where everyone likes to kill each other (and themselves with grenades ).

Disappointed by the stealth knife combat. I thought it'd be a take down kind of attack when you sneak up on them or do more damage but you just do a normal stab attack and then get shot in the face after it alerts everyone.

I feel like re-installing STALKER and playing it with the complete mod. I've noticed there's one for all 3 of the games but I don't know which to play through again. I'm guessing most will say play SoC again but I quite liked the new elements brought in from the other 2 and the expanded territories. I'm kinda leaning to Call of Pripyat but what do you all recommend? Do the mods add/change much game-play wise to make it feel like a fresh experience?

The whole point of the 'complete' mods is to not change the gameplay at all while improving absolutely everything else, so i suggest you look at other mods if you want a new experience
