Just starting, played the first few hours on my old pc gave up due to performance.

Any recommended mods, be they total conversion or just fixes?

I haven't used any mods as such, but get drastically different performance if object or dynamic lighting is on.

What is your spec by the way? It might help to know. I play at 1280x1024, graphical settings on about average, and static lighting. I get very nice frame rates with these settings.

My spec is E6300@3ghz, and a 320mb GTS, 2GB ram.

I also gave up after a few hours - after the fourth time I got a 'savegame does not exist' message. I'll probably come back to it one day, once it's patched to completion, but it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Hmm, shame to hear you had problems Duff-man, a lot of people seem to be the same with Stalker. I had no major issues with the game unpatched, but the 1.0005 patch seems to sort most issues.

I'm playing the Priboi mod at the moment, good fun so far.

Just patched it up to 1.0005. Will have a bash now.

Last system spec aren't even worth mentioning.

I had to revert to 1.0004 because 1.0005 was crashing all the time, and the save bug can easily be fixed, just google it.

Just a quick question about Steam and STALKER, My STALKER disc has a crack in it, and i was wondering if i could add my game to steam by using the "activate a product on steam" and then play the game without using my disc

No you'd have to buy it on steam.

Thanks for the info, I'll do that.

I can put up with a lot of bugs and glitches, but having to repeat large sections repeatedly really got on my wick.

I've still got bioshock to play first, though
