As from today stamps are up 20%!

ROYAL Mail has increased the price of a first-class stamp by more than 20 per cent today- from 46p to 60p.

The increases, which are due to come into force in April will see the cost of a second class stamp rise from 36p to 50p.

Buy some before April when they go up!

So I should buy £50K of stamps and sit outside a busy london post office selling them at 10% cheaper than the post office?

Royal Mail privatisation here we come. It'd look very bad for the wealth creators if they put the prices up after privatisation.

good thinking! Obviously the soon to be buyer has given someone a bung to bump the price now..

Heh, the issue of Royal Mail privatisation cropped up last week when Royal Mail's pension liabilities were shifted from the company to the taxpayer. Privatise the profits, nationalise the liabilities - amazing that people fall for it every time

Sell them back? I'm sure I read someplace that stamps were once usable as legal currency?

Edit: Seems that it's a myth that persists, couldn't find anything that said they ever were but I did only spend five minutes googling :p

The fact that the increase is over 30%, you would expect the headline to be "stamps increased by over 30%" and not 20%. Technically they are right, but they could equally have a headline saying "stamps increased by over 10%"

Strange for them not to use 30% in their headline.

Maybe they should stop delivering their competitor's mail for them then?

thats been the biggest problem for years and no one will change it.

got talking with a postie about it and he was saying its cheaper for tnt to post something via royal mail than it is royal mail to. as they get some sort of special rate.

talk about a mess.
