Can anyone recommend a good stand / wheel chock?

Something along the lines of THIS, THIS or THIS.

I don't need any locking functions. I just want something that will keep the bike firmly upright while I lift the rear end onto a paddock stand and off again (I've had a couple of near drops while taking the bike off the rear paddock :().

That gorilla lock looks brilliant!

Quite a fancy bit kit. The reply on the advert is a bit daft. Yes you can remove a front wheel but generaly you will need 2 or 3 people to shift a bike with no front wheel and its not exactly a 2 minute job.

Only thing with the gorilla lock is that at some stage one of the wheel spokes is going to get in the way, and the lock will likely chip paint off it. Even worse if you have something with multi-spoke wheels.

Thats a good spot, didnt even think about it! I imagine if there was enough pressure it could cause some real damage to the wheel.

Hmmm not sure on the make of mine will have a look tonight.
But I got mine from a parts stall track side at a race event, so not online sorry :( must be a UK seller somewhere though...

Doesn't look like anywhere in the UK can supply the Baxley Sport Chock :(

I even tried a well known auction site but there aren't any on there either. The US version of the same site has 3 for sale, but non will ship to the UK.

Looks like I'll have to go with the second best option, which I haven't actually established yet :p

Here's the email I received back from Jerome Baxley if anyone's interested :p

Good Day Dan,

Thank you for your interest in our products. We strive to build the best motorcycle trailers and chocks in the world today we do so right here in the USA.

Unfortunately we don’t have a stocking dealer in the UK or the EU for that matter. We can send one to you by Postal Service but that is very expensive. I realize it isn’t much help but I will sell you a Sport Chock for $200.00 USD plus the shipping. Unfortunately that will cost about another $200.00. If you want to do this, I will contact the US Postal Service and get an exact cost for the shipping.

Do you know a US military person near you. If so we might be able to work to get him to order for you and let the gov’t send the Chock. Just a thought.

Let me know if I can be of any additional help to you.

Ride safe and keep facing the Son.

Because of Him, I am ,

Would have cost me a small fortune to have one sent over so I'm happy I just went with the one Fireskull linked :)

haha love that guys sign off :p

The one I linked should be fine, its almost identical to mine, only difference is the wheel clamp bit is in two sections and they grip tighter depending on wheel size.
And turns out I got mine from Crescent Suzuki, was something else I got at a track, but I cant find it on the crescent site anymore so not much of a help!

Ok, so the wheel chock arrived and feels pretty sturdy.

But, does anyone know how I'm supposed to set it up?

On the pivot part you roll the bike onto there are 2 mounting holes to choose from. And on the top catcher type cradle there are 3 mounting holes to choose from.

Do I need to take wheel/height measurements to work out where they should be positioned?

I'm only small and find the bike quite heavy, so I'm not sure I can just throw it in there and hope it stays up :p

Cheers :)

Nevermind. Can't get the bike in the damn thing anyway.

Everytime I roll up to it the whole thing just gets pushed back and the rubber feet fall off :(

These are really meant to be used mounted to the floor, if that isn't an option is there something it can back up against to stop it sliding? Otherwise your only other option is an abba stand which mounts centrally in the swingarm or frame depending on the bike.

I got it mainly to aid me in getting the bike on and off a rear paddock stand without needing help.

The bike likes to lurch to the right when I take it off the rear stand for some reason, which means I need to stand up front keeping the bike upright whilst someone else removes the stand.

The only times I get the bike up on the stand is when I'm lubing the chain or giving it a wash. Both of which I do outside in the middle of the back yard. So it's not really a place I can mount a wheel chock permanently.

I'd assumed I could just roll my bike into this thing out in the open, like the guys on YouTube :)

Maybe I could drill a set of holes in the yard and just drop some bolts down to stop the thing sliding... Although I think I'd rather look for a better solution to this.

Bah!
