Standard audio vs Audi sound system

Ive got the B&O system in my current 2016 A3 Saloon. Good little package would highly recommend.

On a slightly different note is my annoyance with Audi still insisting on including their stupid Audi only phone/iPod connection in the car, which you have to buy an over priced Audi cable for. Both the 15 plate Skoda octavia VRS and 65 plate VW Tiguan I had simply had a standard USB port in them which you could plug your normal charging/data cable into with no special leads required. Why Audi still insist on installing their own connector I don't know.

Other than to sell over priced cables for obviously
Not anymore with the current A3 and A4, they now use usb, however the cables for the previous models are only overpriced if you buy them from Audi. From Amazon they're only a few quid..

One thing I have notice about the audi sound system in my 2017 model A4 is that it definately improves over time...

I don't consider myself a serious audiophile per se, but I do love listening to music in the car. I had an Alpina D3 for two years and although I loved the car, I couldn't stand the standard sound system. The music just felt flat and lifeless, a massive disappointment for me. I've since had B&O setups in an S5 and now my S3 and I would plump for the best audio system upgrade everytime.

I listen to the radio a little bit but mostly I run a 64GB SD card full of MP3 albums (256/320kbps) and it keeps me happy. Really depends how important this area is to you. I'd try and demo both.

A friend of mine has an a1 with the bose speakers and sub, the sub sits in the boot and as a result he loses a bit of boot space as the boot floor sits a little higher. Obviously an a1 is a small car so perhaps sacrifices have to be made, not sure if the likes of the a3 lose any space?
