Yup, nVidia's main competition now is consoles. If they price their cards so high then they'll lose PC business to consoles imo.

I'd dare say the console is as strong as ever in the AAA market space still kicking PC's butt for profitability as shown by the dominant staggered multi-platform release schedule where the money maker launches weeks if not months before PC's so still a win win situation for AMD/Nv.

Been a while-only do a wee bit of lurking nowadays due to this place being hugely inhospitable most of the time, changed days from the past years of mainly educating about the benefits of vram, didn't need to say much after one of the vendors allocated proper amounts across the range.
Plus I remember when the duplicate banned account posters got re-banned, doesn't that happen anymore, as it doesn't take much to work out Doom(whatever the rest was) is posting in this and other threads?
Still astounds me that no matter that everyone is ~ enjoying great performance, the lengths people go to pour scorn on someones choice of hardware like a petulant kid and it's ok.

Love him or hate him, i miss Rusty and the arguments that ensured between us and Greg over VRAM back in the day.
I wasn't pointing any fingers Matilda.
The love hate was strong, but Rusty was hard work, probably because even in defeat-just like myself, he still managed a comeback, poor g probably loves the peace and quiet without me though, but you just got to love that big gentle giant too even though they were wrong most of the time.

Including todays gpu's I've been around arguing vram allocation that more is better than less since the 480>5870 and the 6950>560 days and so on, so Iv'e witnessed a fair bit of vram flip flopping if you add in todays cards and what vendor they prefer.
I gave my 670 to my nephew, but it ran out of vram in a few titles when it was still a very valid gpu still capable of pushing high fps, no contest against the 7950 that hammered it obviously as it had 50% extra vram, but he's still using it to this day with textures set within it's restrictions.
So glad they saw the light and gave us loads of vram with the 1070, loving mine and dare I say it the high cost(imo) is getting offset with longer longevity.

Aye, good times, there was always loads to be had back then, far too serious and perhaps too bitter now hence just popping in from time to time instead of contributing more like I used too.
