Star Wars Fallen Jedi why pegi 16?

We were watching dodgy Betamax copies of Driller Killer, Cannibal Holocaust, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I Spit on Your Grave, Blood Moon et al. at that age, and we managed to survive and turn out OK. So I imagine a bit of lightsabre action and less swearing than he hears in the schoolyard isn't going to do any harm.

What isn’t a great sign? As far as I can tell they’ve sworn blind that there will be no multiplayer or micro transactions.

Last time checked, EA calls these "Surprise mechanics" so yeah "no loot boxes"
Do you trust EA? Even Wolfenstein Youngblood has microtransations for cosmetics which is a single/coop player game

As for the game given the footage came out two weeks ago, looks pile of poo.
I do not remember someone can call himself "jedi" by executing people begging for help eg after the AT ST fight while they are on the floor unarmed.

I getcha. The only thing I trust about EA is their greed, I’m hoping that means they’ll stick to the promise to avoid sales tanking. We’ll see. It doesn’t look amazing, but I do want to play it. I’m a sucker for Star Wars games.

They did promised no loot boxes on Youngblood, Apex & BFV also. That's why we shouldn't trust EA.
Especially when the company is recorded on video lying opening to the UK PM committee just 5 months ago.

That's up for debate!

Wow. I can't believe this guy is actually getting grief for actively checking whether games are suitable for his child. It's a hell of a lot better apporach than the idiots who let their pre-teen play something like GTA because "it's just a game".

Played GTA 3 when I was 9 together with my cousins, who were even younger. Somehow it didn't scar us for life. :)

Let's not forget that before all this snow flake generation kids were being told fairy tales with horrific violence, ala Grimms' tales before their continual disneyfication. Kids aren't bothered as much as adults think they would be.

I watched IT with my 11 year old the other day. I was watching horror from the age of 8 and not killed anyone yet. Snow-flakes everywhere you look, bring back the 90s.

Seriously asking if a kid can play star wars.... what has happened to this world.

I'm split on this, as I was allowed to watch violent movies as a kid (Dad rented RoboCop for me from the video store when I was about 9 ) and yes, games didn't seem to affect me.

But your example of GTA 3 is very cartoony and basic. The main character doesn't eve talk.

GTA V on the other hand looks much more realistic, and the idea of young kids torturing an NPC as Trevor Phillips (there is a specific sequence where you do this) leaves me feeling a bit uneasy about a young kid playing it.

Games are more sophisticated now. NPCs you interact with actually look like people (see Death stranding to see how far we've come)

Anyway, PEGI 16 isn't quite as bad as a PEGI 18 certificate game I guess.

I’m not here to criticise. I’ll just say that i don’t think this particular game will be a problem for an 11 year old, from the gameplay videos I’ve seen it looks fairly tame.

Yeah but were you allowed to chat to strange middle aged men/women on the phone/internet when you were 9?

A games rating isn't really just about the probability of turning kids into murderers and physchos.

You can chat on minecraft, have you checked the age rating for that?

a quick google suggests chat is disabled for profiles under age of 13? not sure if correct though.
my post was not serious meant as a slight joke at the fact that people worry about blood etc in games but are quite happy to allow there very young kids talk to complete strangers online via multiplayer games.

It's now on the PEGI site:

This game has received a PEGI 16 because it features sustained depictions of violence towards human characters and strong violence. Not suitable for persons under 16 years of age.

At PG / 12 rating, the Star Wars set of films is meant to appeal to most ages except for very young children. So why is this game not matching the long-running PG / 12 rating? Seems a bit unfair on teenage fans who enjoy the films but aren't allowed to play the game?

As for the other debate, loot boxes, can someone please explain that? To me, loot boxes were chests in World of Warcraft. If a party (2 to 5 players) found a chest on the open world map, each player would /roll 100 (roll a number from 1 to 100) and the player with the highest roll would claim the chest. If a 5-man party or a 40-man raid found a chest in an instance/dungeon, it would contain highly-sought armoury items. The players rolled on a need before greed basis depending on what class the players and armoury items were.

Frozen Freefall (similar to Bejewelled and Candy Crush) has chests that you can open after completing every 5th / 10th / 15th etc level and it would contain power-ups. Power-ups can also be purchased via in-app purchases, but if you're relatively good at the game like I am, then the intermittent chests are sufficient.

It's just a Star Wars game, I'm 6 hours in and it plays like a Star Wars game. It's Star Wars and kids love Star Wars. I'd have no problem letting my 7 & 8 year boys play this.

Agreed, it's not scary/gory at all. Actually, I don't think I've seen any blood??? It plays like a star wars game should, it's a cinematic adventure more than a game and I'm loving it.

However, it will be a challenge for your kids in the sense of the puzzles and enemies, there are some seriously tricky bits!

Agreed. I've not long finished playing with the balls in the wind! ;)
