Star Wars Squadrons

Respawn are also working on a VR game, I believe based around Medal of Honor. EA getting on board could be the kick VR needs. I may even pick up another Oculus Rift if its good.

That game was fully funded from Facebucks and this is only a budget £35 title. EA is still testing the waters.

Trying to think what other of their IPs would suit a VR or VR mode title. Dead Space would be epic.

On the steam store now.

At least they say its got a campaign, and is first person action so hopefully nice cockpit views and working dials and monitors in it i presume.

Pre-order* STAR WARS™: Squadrons now to get cosmetic items for your New Republic and Imperial pilots and starfighters:
  • New Republic Recruit Flight Suit (Epic)
  • Imperial Ace Flight Suit (Epic)
  • New Republic Recruit Starfighter Skins (Rare)
  • Imperial Ace Starfighter Skins (Rare)
  • New Republic Recruit Decal (Common)
  • Imperial Ace Decal (Common)
Master the art of starfighter combat in the authentic piloting experience STAR WARS™: Squadrons. Buckle up, feel the adrenaline of first-person multiplayer space dogfights alongside your squadron, and learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player campaign.

Id only consider the game if it has a long campaign in sp, no leveling up system, no bonuses to pickup for boosts of things, no buying or earning cosmetics, just have choices from the start and thats it. No need to replay the game hopefully after your done with the campaign like most good sp games are (imo..)

Guess you need to find another game then mate! It's not just a single player game though, a large part of it will be the 5v5 multiplaer. It also might be first person (with VR and HOTAS support), however it has a levelling up system, unlocking not only cosmetics but ship equipment upgrades too. Not through microtransactions though:

This in VR could be amazing. One to watch.

Please don't screw it up EA.......

If they do still got this Star Wars VR game to fall back on and you can play it NOW with HOTAS/WMR support etc etc etc shoot Tie Fighters, destroy the Death Star. Its basically a remake of the old Star Wars vector graphics game for the 21st Century but is being expanded upon greatly.

its already pretty amazing to say its one Dev and even works on the Quest. Just hope he doesnt quit or get shut down. (I've voiced one of the B Wing pilots!)

£24.99 pre order on CDKEYS, pretty impressive price. I have to admit I am tempted to go for it for that money

If it was to be VR that would be incredible immersion wise. **EDIT** - VR implementation has been confirmed for PC And PS4....oooh that's VERY tempting now!

With the 5v5 mp, cross platform support I wonder if they're aiming for a Rocket League style esports competitive game?
Cross platform has me interested since most of my friends are ps4 players.

Hope the single player is good - been a long time since there's been a good Star Wars space game.

What sort of thing would you all like to see with squad based multiplayer?

Off the bat for me would be close formation flying to disguise your numbers along with radar decoys that you can fly while you're slaved to your teammate. I suppose would depend on the size of the area you're flying in - not much point if everything is too close up.
I imagine the different ships will have their roles with the X-Wing being the jack of all trades but as mentioned have the old power distributions systems, ability to shift shields to where you think attacks come from etc will be nifty.
Rather than being straight up deathmatch I suppose they'll have different modes - escort, bombing etc with the other team trying to stop you.

Really hope it'll allow multiple squads.

Might be time to start looking at joysticks...

It appears to have power management similar to the original X-wing games... or at least the trailer seems to suggest it will have that. This would be crucial for setting it apart from BF2 type of arcade style combat.
