Has anyone played this game? i need my space fix. played all the X-universe ones and things like tachyon the fringe and it's at least a year till proper MMO versions are going to be released. so any idea if this is any good?

Or can anyone recommend any others, I doubt it but has there been any newish releases of similar things?

What mmo's versions are you talking about X3?

Also Tachyon is a great game, loved it :)

I take it you've played Freespace 1 & 2?

I believe the Star Wolves games are more Homeworld than Freespace. They seem to get ok reviews, bit of rpg progression thrown in too.

Infinity: quest for earth
Infinity: The Quest for Earth is an upcoming classless open-ended sci-fi MMO and persistent virtual world by developer Flavien Brebion. The game will allow each player to create his or her own approach and play style in the planned vast universe (over 200 billion star systems), choosing their preferred mix of combat, trade, roleplay, diplomacy, and more.

Jumpgate evolution
The sequel to 2001's Jumpgate, Jumpgate Evolution is a standalone entry with a completely new graphics system and new additions to gameplay and features.

The same universe and nations as the previous game will return, only affected by the passage of time and the whims of humanity. Combat will be varied and more action-oriented this time around, with planned twtch-based gameplay during battle. Social aspects of the game are also improved, and these include the dynamic player-driven economy, and an overall more varied and accessible gameplay style to attract different tastes. Jumpgate Evolution is still in development.

I think Infinity looks better, but Jumpgate is much closer to release.

Yep been in development ages.

Also black prophecy is another one, not sure how good it will be as it is planned to be sub free.
