Starcraft 2

As the title says... Stacraft 2...

Is it worth picking up? it looks kinda like a spacey C&C. And i'm kinda yearning for one of those

Can anyone recommend some good alternates?

It's a very good game. SP is nice, and the MP aspect of the game is excellent. OcUK has its own MP league as well

SC2 = epic.

I have not completed the campaign yet but it is really good!

Online is difficult if you join the game late but after watching some youtube vids and joining a clan to help make you better you start getting better and the multiplayer starts becoming really fun and challenging.

Definitely worth its money considering how much play time you can get form it considering some matches can last upto 1 hour+!

I know this sounds weird put like, whats the point of the SP? Is it a good story or would I need to have played Starcraft?

I'd not played it before (SC1) and the SP storyline was still really good. But to be honest, with SC it's all about the multiplayer. Great game to get into

Great story line, what else would you expect from Blizzard?

I believe the expansion is coming out soon which is the Zerg campaign I think its called Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm and Wings of liberty the one that is out is the terran campaign.

When you install, you get treated to a good summary of what happened in the previous games.

More than enough to get you up to speed.

Superb game.

Can't wait for HotS

if you havent played sc1, missed a lot, if u havent played 2nd well, dont missout, took em 10 years to release 2nd one, and 1st one is still playable.. tells u something on the quality of that game

Great game, campaign was great but it's all about the multiplayer once that's rather briefly out the way

Multiplayer is for most people(me included) incredibly stressful, especially when you get up in the top league - that said it's so much fun depiste that.
I reached Masters league awhile ago but have veered off from 1v1 ladder because it stresses me out too much.

Oh and if you want to get into it, you should check out http://www.teamliquid.net/ , biggest Starcraft community to date. You should check out the top player streams, pretty sweet to watch especially if you want a taste for the game.

For noobs is there any point to it? I could only barely hold my own online in C&C Generals (last comparable RTS I played online), I'm assuming SC2 will be ludicrously difficult :/

Well, depends if you're willing to put a lot of time into learning the competitive side to it - there are all the custom games (think Warcraft 3) which are great fun (don't need to be great for these

)

You get placed into league depending on your skill, which is further refined with a hidden MMR rating so you'll only ever be playing people of your own skill level.

Short answer: yes.

There's challenges and 50 practice ladder games allowed which all helps you to start thinking in multiplayer mode. I've played a lot of RTS and SC2 is by far the best for giving new players perspective - you'll always get placed against other players with the same ranking score (which no one can see, different to the "league rank") so there's always a fair fight to be had, even if you're in gold/platinum standards the hidden score tries to keep you at 50/50 win ratio, so never worry about losing.

amazing RTS. The SP is of a high standard, as always with blizzard title, and the MP is brilliant. Simply one of the greatest MP games around at the moment.

It takes some learning to get to grips with playing MP. there's a lot of online videos for beginners on sites like youtube. TotalBiscuit does a series which is good.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for some great online MP action
