well retailers have listed diablo 3 and starcraft 2 on preorder. diablo3 has no date yet. starcraft 2. 01/02/2009 hope it will not get delayed

The only thing that ever puts me off playing Starcraft all that much is how bloody mentally demanding it is. If you're not on full form during a game, you're toast, and if you're playing single-player, it just becomes a complete slog.

starcraft was is one of the best rts and of the looks of starcraft 2 it even better. Ra3 will not stand a chance

There's enough RTSs that try something different (COH, WIC, SupCom, etc), so I am pretty happy that SC2 sticks to the original formula - which I still find to be the most enjoyable!

at the risk of being beaten to death with a large trout or similar... what made SC so great ?

BTW as it was mentioned earlier in the thread... i really enjoyed MechCommander too, and would welcome more of the same.

Starcraft is one of the best balanced RTS games ever, it is still the number one game played in korea.
It has 3 distinct and very different races yet is both easy to play with a lot of depth.
The single player game imho has one of the best story lines in any RTS.

starcraft II is gonna be awesome no doubt, even if it was just the original in an updated engine (which is exactly what it is by the looks of it) it'll still be a good buy, better than the crap with C&C stamped on it thats for sure! still supreme commander is the best actual strategy game around at the moment, don't see anything beating it anytime soon except maybe supreme commander II

Technically maybe, although 'horrendous' seems harsh. Blizzard's artwork and world design more than make up for it - imo they are unrivaled in that department. D3 and SC2 dont exactly look shabby either.

For a RTS game from what I've seen, starcraft 2 graphics are not bad at all.

That comment was made awhile ago.
